Release time:Aug 05,2026
On July 15, 2026, the World Youth Skills Day Global Webinar, organized by the UNESCO International Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (UNESCO-UNEVOC), was held online. As a core member of the UNESCO Global Education Coalition (GEC) and a partner of the Global Skills Academy (GSA), Ms. Sun Aiping, Executive Vice President of China POCY Group, was invited to participate in the webinar. She shared insights on the practical outcomes of the "Global Youth Skills Scholarship Program" and the inclusive youth skills development system.
Themed "Skills for a Shared Future," the webinar brought together policymakers, vocational education researchers, representatives of multinational enterprises, and youth delegates from around the world. The discussion addressed pressing global youth development challenges, including youth unemployment, informal employment, and the lack of skills resources for disadvantaged youth. The dialogue focused on four frontier areas: digital skills, green skills, global citizenship, and AI-integrated vocational education, building a multi-stakeholder platform for government-industry-education-youth collaboration to explore new models for youth skills development aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals.
During the session on "Opportunities for Action: Learning, Partnerships, and Youth Engagement," Ms. Sun Aiping, drawing on the strategic cooperation between China POCY Group and the UNESCO Global Skills Academy (GSA), presented the progress and long-term vision of the "Global Youth Skills Scholarship Program." She shared China‘s vocational education practices as a response to the webinar‘s core question: How can we equip every young person with the competencies they need for a shared future?
She noted that the "Global Youth Skills Scholarship Program" is a flagship initiative through which China POCY Group fulfills the UNESCO 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and responds to UNESCO‘s global call for youth skills training. As of July 2026, the first cohort of 35 young participants from seven countries has arrived in China for an immersive training program, fulfilling the commitment made at the program‘s launch one year ago and building a platform for cross-cultural youth exchange and mutual learning.
In response to the webinar‘s core themes, Ms. Sun Aiping put forward three proposals for global collaboration: first, to build a barrier-free mechanism for skills inclusion, encouraging international enterprises and educational institutions to jointly establish an open and shared global skills learning network; second, to fully integrate AI and green technologies into modern vocational education systems, aligning with the evolving demands of future industrial transformation on youth competencies; and third, to promote deeper youth engagement in co-creation and co-governance, empowering young people to transition from beneficiaries of skills development to co-creators of global skills advancement.
Starting with the immersive training of the first cohort of 35 international youth, a cross-border skills development network is being woven ever closer and expanding further. Looking ahead, China POCY Group will deepen global partnerships, continue to expand its "AI + Chinese Language + Vocational Skills" training system, and contribute to an inclusive, co-created, and shared future for global youth development through regular, substantive, and professional international talent development outcomes.
