The China POCY IERC model places “University + Community” at its core and “Education + Service” as its connective framework to create an integrated, home-based elderly care ecosystem. Its goal is to enrich the lives of the elderly with youthful vitality while enlightening young students with the wisdom of senior generations—realizing the vision that “seniors enter the campus, making the university their second home; students enter the community, making the home their second classroom.”

In this ecosystem, residents share access to campus facilities, participate in university classes and student clubs, fulfilling their social and educational needs. Through the use of a “time bank” mutual-aid system, seniors can experience the joy of reciprocal care and purpose-driven aging—living the ethos of “Though the hair is white, the aspirations remain; though the steed is aged, it still longs to gallop.”

More importantly, students and faculty from fields such as nursing, traditional Chinese medicine, rehabilitation, nutrition, domestic services, health management, and psychological counseling can provide professional guidance and support for elder wellness and home care. Meanwhile, students gain firsthand exposure to the aging population, drawing on their life experience and wisdom. This mutual exchange nurtures a community where “big hands hold little hands, and together they walk into the future.”
